Modiglianni

painting by Amedeo Modiglianni

His name rolls around your
tongue like a lush exotic fruit...

Ever hidden in Picasso's shadow
The finger of God touched
You as well, body wracked with
Sickness, always the quintessential
Tragic artist, drink and drug
Hastened your journey to death’s
Gate, from Absinthe’s green haze
Emerged such exquisiteness
Necks of swans and eyes
Which held bare their souls
Time has pushed the shadow
aside, bringing your work to light
Saying what even Picasso knew,
You were a Master in your own right

what a glowing tribute to a very much overshadowed artist... and your choice of paining was exquisite as well.....
