Venting

I just needed to vent. I'm watching the news and they are talking about ACORN and some of the calls they have been receiving. One woman stating that Obama should be hung. I just wanted to cry and correct her English. The closer the election looms the more I realize that racism is alive and well. I love this country but when are we going to grow up. My husband has heard incredibly racist remarks from neighbors and it just makes me sick. These are people that I have called friend. Seriously where do you draw the line? I just want to say in my support for Obama race never entered my mind. I simply think he is the better man for the job.

Sadly, there is still a lot of racism around...not helped at all by the rhetoric of McCain/Palin. I take heart in thinking more have gotten past it than not: or else how would he be ahead! What concerns me is not that a majority of people are racist, but that those who are are so violent.

To be colorblind requires soul searhing and emotional work. How many want to invest their time in such a way? Unfortunately, the minority!

this election have brought many's true colors to surface and it is a shame because each day it is becoming more apparent that we have not progressed one iota as a people. ignorance, fear, racism, bigotry, and superiority seems to still reign.

it's becoming a little scary at the kind of stuff that is being said and i just fear that if obama gets elected, he will end up as another john f. kennedy because the hate is becoming dangerously palpable. i hope in my heart it will not be so and they allow and give him the time and benefit of the doubt that he is and always was the only one that could get the job done. the bushie years have left the american people in a quagmire of hopelessness and despair and to continue with four more years of the same, is to further sink us into that dark abyss of no return.

the only man who i believe can move this country forward again is obama. plain and simple.

Rebecca, thank you! I sometimes feel I'm the crazy one. So many people telling me I'm over reacting or why are you such a pessimist. I'm not a pessimist, I'm an optimist. I keep hoping this country will move forward. Sorry I'm not going to be silent when someone makes comments I find offensive.

All of us in India also do watch and look up to your vibrant democracy. We too have our idiosyncracies and racism of a different kind. In a fast shrinking planet, I do not know how this violent emotion could be curbed.
But lets be optimistic!

I really don't like either of our choices, but I'm with you on the racism. Sometimes, I find people aren't really racist, just ignorance masquerading as racism. What really bothers me is you see it on all sides, not necessarily of this election, but on all sides of the human family - black, white, and all the variances of hue in between. It's really sad, esp. when it only takes one or two ignorant people to bring the whole racism thing back to the forefront... I guess we just have to be optimistic and keep faith in the hope - the hope - that the human experiment will continue to develop and refine itself into a more perfect society...
